Chiune Sugihara's Son's Secret
📍 Kaunas, Lithuania / Israel
When Chiune Sugihara was ordered evacuated by Tokyo from Kaunas, he had hundreds of desperate Jewish refugees pounding on his door for visas. He kept writing visas until the very moment his train pulled out of the station. He wrote his last visa while standing in the train doorway. One of the visas he wrote bore the name 'Solly Ganor' — a Lithuanian Jewish boy who survived the war and later became an author. In an incredible coincidence, Solly's son would later meet Sugihara's son in Israel, completing a circle that neither family knew existed.
